It’s been a hard year for many people, so it feels even more important that at this time of year we give back to the local community. The team love getting together in December to discuss who we would like to support. This year we decided on Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, which is our chosen charity and has a special place in a number of the teams hearts.
Together the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (including Bear Cottage) care for 151,000 sick children around NSW every year.
With the support of the community the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, has provided high quality, comprehensive medical services and research to the children and families of NSW for over 30 years.
This year (with COVID-19 restrictions) donors have been unable to visit the hospital baring gifts. However they have still been accepting toys and gifts. This year , based on a special request from the foundation Brix Projects have donated art packs to their art program which has really suffered due to COVID-19.
Recent restrictions have meant that art materials can only be used once by each patient to minimize the risk of spreading the virus, this means more materials than normal are being used.
By supporting the Art Program and donating art packs, we have been able to provide inpatients with high quality materials so that they can participate in visual art workshops. Not only does this provide much needed distraction and respite it also provides an art education experience.
