Client: How much control do I have over my labour hire employees?

If you’re looking into labour hire for the first time you may be wary of the process as it’s not what you’re used to. Typically if you need a new employee most employers are used to posting an ad, reviewing suitable resumes, selecting candidates for interviews then making the final decision. Just because you are using a labour hire company to source your employees for you doesn’t mean that you don’t have any control.

What do you need from a candidate?

Before a labour hire agency can find you the right candidate, it is important for them to find out exactly what you need from a client. So you can specify EXACTLY what you need from a potential worker; do they need to have any specific qualifications? Do they need a certain ticket to work on site? How much work experience would you prefer for them to have? So essentially, you have complete control over the type of worker that you want, and if they don’t meet your specific guidelines then they won’t be considered.

How do I know that your candidate’s qualifications are legitimate?

A good labour hire agency will always make sure that they verify that all of the qualifications that a candidate presents are genuine and can be backed up by documentation and references. For example at BriX we will always contact candidate references on behalf of our clients to make sure that the candidate we present to you is capable of doing the job you need them to do. You can have full access to their resume as you would when recruiting for any normal position so you can assess the candidate yourself.

Can I meet the candidate myself before they start work for me?

Before we send any candidate to work for you we will always interview them to make sure that they are suitable. If you would like to speak to the candidate directly and this can be arranged there is no problem at all. Working with a good labour hire agency should mean that you are able to find out as much about your potential candidate as possible, to make sure you are fully prepared for who you are getting to work for you.

What if I am not happy with the candidate?

This is where labour hire really comes into it’s own; if you are not satisfied with the candidate that your labour hire company has provided for your project you can choose not to be sent that candidate again and replace them quickly and easily. For example with BriX Projects if for some reason the candidate isn’t suited to your business, we can quickly and easily find you a replacement and will continue to do so for our clients to ensure that they are 100% happy with their workforce. Although we find that our resource managers are very talented at finding the right person first time, but it’s good for peace of mind to know.

Essentially, your labour hire agency will take away the stress and the hassle away from recruiting employees yourself, with the same degree of control over the workforce you hire. With added benefits such as being able to easily change workers to suit your project needs and if you’re not satisfied with the quality of work, without red tape from a HR department.
